I've been thinking about art as an opening to continue a conversation, and creativity as the process of giving something the structure, time, and space it needs to unfold.

I decided to create a school of fifty fish mugs as a way of embodying and playing with these two ideas in collaboration with myself and the people who would like to give them a home in the aquarium of their cabinets.

I will be making fifty of these mugs. Each one will be different. The theme is simply "fish." I am not yet sure what all of them will look like, which is part of the point. I am approaching them from a place of curiosity and warmth, giving each mug the time it needs to become its most honest expression.

If you decide you'd like to give one a home, I invite you to share a memory that evokes warmth within you—something that makes you feel at ease in the home of yourself. I will read your memory before beginning your mug, and let it quietly inform the energy I create from. In that way, we enter a creative conversation together, even if we never meet.

This is a collaborative and intuitive process. You will not see your mug before it arrives, and there are no previews, selections, or custom requests. What you receive will be a reflection of this shared exchange, interpreted through my hands.

Glazes will range from green to blue, with color emerging through the creative process. Clay will be either speckled (shown above) or an earthy red.

Each mug is part of a limited run of fifty, created through a collaborative and intuitive process. What you receive is a one-of-one piece shaped by time, attention, and shared energy.

Mugs will be shipped in mid-late May.
